Our society now incorporates the University Homebrew Society, please see the Homebrew Page for more information and details of how to come along to our homebrew sessions where anyone can learn how to brew their own beer / real ale.

Recently added to the website is our Blog where we discuss upcoming events and various announcements, and our Pub Reviews section where you can review the real ale pubs / events in Sheffield by submitting your own reviews and commenting on the reviews of others. The review section is slowly growing and we hope it will become a great resource for students in Sheffield.

About the Sheffield University Real Ale Society

The Kelham Island Tavern

The main reason for the group was to show those that didn’t know, the vast and bountiful selection of real ale and good pubs to be found in Sheffield. With regular meetings and open minds we promote the sale of Real Ale throughout both The University Of Sheffield and the wider community.

The main event of SURAS calender is the annual Sheffield May Day Beer Festival held as the Sheffield University Students Union, other events include pub crawls, keg parties, brewery trips, homebrew sessions, visiting Beer Festivals, and volunteering at other Ale-based events.

As we now incorporate the Homebrew society, we also run various homebrew related days. Currently these are limited to homebrew sessions where we will teach you how to make your own real ale / beer. See the Homebrew page for more details.
